In my early 20s, I had two great experiences traveling and living abroad. I spent four months back-packing in Costa Rica and lived in Bogotá, Colombia for around a year.

After returning to the States, having kids and starting my career made traveling abroad unrealistic for some years. After joining the faculty at The University of Alabama, I had the opportunity to teach a course for the UA in Sweden program in 2013 and then co-direct the program in 2015. My experiences with Study Abroad in Sweden were so positive, I decided to start my own program in Berlin, Germany focused on public policy, politics, and culture.

In 2023, I traveled to Cuba for the first time in my capacity directing the Fellows program. In 2024, I was thrilled to take Political Science students back to Berlin for the first time since 2019.
